Diploma in Early Childhood Education

The Diploma in Early Childhood Education is designed for individuals who aspire to be a qualified educator for young children. Candidates will learn about the core competencies in becoming an early childhood educator in the 21st century, while being introduced to business and marketing concepts that would prepare them to operate these education centres.

 

This programme is for:
  • Practicing early childhood educators who would like to upgrade their teaching qualification
  • High School Leavers (Local and International) who intend to pursue a career in early childhood education
  • Individuals who seek a change in career

Programme Features

Programme Objectives

Upon successful completion of the programme , students will acquire knowledge in the key concepts and principles surrounding 21st century childhood education. They will also learn the essential business and marketing skills that would be useful in the operations of a learning centre. Our graduates will be qualified to teach in a variety of educational settings, such as:

  • Pre schools
  • Montessori
  • Nurseries
  • Day care centres
  • Kindergartens

Alternatively students can choose to major to in business management with a view to managing and administering an early childhood education centre.


Programme Information
  • 2 years (6 semesters)
  • 29 courses (including MPW – Malaysian Compulsory Subjects & practicum)
  • Full-time programme (classroom based + practicum)

Enrolment Criteria

Malaysian Student

  • Possess an SPM Certificate or its equivalent
  • Possess a credit in English and in at least two other subjects
  • Possess at least a B in English and in two other subjects in UEC

International Student

  • Complete High School with a credit in English and in at least two other subjects

 

English Requirements

  • Possess a Credit (C) in English in the O-Levels
  • IELTS: At least band 5.0
  • TOEFL: At least a score of 213 (computer-based test), 550 (paper-based test) or 79 – 80 (internet-based test)
  • Complete and pass at least level 106 in the ELS Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP)
